It’s that time of year again! September always brings fun situations with it, doesn’t it?! No one knows if they should have the A/C or heat on, or just leave the windows open (usually it’s all three in the same day). Stores are starting to put out Halloween decorations (probably even Christmas decorations). People are gearing up for football, and baseballs teams are trying to figure out if it’s mathematically possible to catch up to the Cardinals (it isn’t!).
Oh… and the Gulf and East Coasts get pummeled with hurricanes and tropical storms. I know it might seem like common sense that when a hurricane is coming you get out of town, but as a responsible contractor it is important that we have a well-documented plan in place. To help with that, your friends at ARCO SAFE have created this Hurricane Preparedness Plan. This plan is a good starting point, but you’ll have to come up with the specifics for your job site. Make sure you:
Assign and document who is responsible for what materials (roofer secures roofing, who is going to cover/protect windows, etc. etc. etc.) Share this plan with everyone onsite so they know when to get ready, when to start preparing, and when to get the heck out!
Plan your evacuation route and muster areas. Most municipalities along the coast will have evacuate routes already established, and can tell you how far you have to go before you can stop.
As always, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact ARCO SAFE.
