Material Handling And Storage

A clean jobsite is often the sign of a well-run, profitable operation. ARCO strives for perfection when dealing with jobsite cleanliness. A safe job is a clean job!
Do your part!
It is important that everyone does their part to ensure our jobsite remains clean. This requires us to keep up with housekeeping, not only on a daily basis, but a task by task basis. There will be no need to argue over which trade/contractor is responsible for a mess if you clean up the jobsite as you work.
Keep walkways and stairways clear
There are routes on the jobsite that workers use to get from one place to another. Not only do they walk along these routes, they also carry equipment and materials along with them. That’s why it’s so important to keep them dry, clear, and hazard free to prevent trips and falls.
Storing materials can cause clutter and disorder on a jobsite very fast. Workers should store various types of materials in the proper way:
- Bricks should be stacked in interlocking layers and if stacked higher than 6’, taper them back one half block per layer above 6’
- Lumber should have all nails removed before stacking or storing
- Pipe, bar stock, poles and structural steel should be racked, if possible, and if not, stack and block to prevent spreading or tilting
Material storage can become problematic on a jobsite, if not properly addressed. Be sure and make an effort for material deliveries to happen as close to the needed time as possible.
